Event Description
Sunshine Makers are a psychedelic soul-funk collective from London, Ontario, radiating lush harmonies, deep-pocket grooves, and an uplifting message of unity and love. Fronted by Brent Jackson (vocals, guitar) and joined by Tina Powell (keys, vocals), Caleb Brown (Bass), Thom Perquin (drums), and Shayn Barnes (congas), the group draws from R&B, jazz, and 70s West Coast soul, coloured by hypnotic percussion and vintage tones. Celebrated for their live energy, Sunshine Makers have shared stages with Shad, BADBADNOTGOOD, My Son the Hurricane, King Pari, and others. A paired-down version of the band — Jackson and Powell — has also taken their songs abroad, with shows in Japan, Sweden, Montreal, and Texas, where they performed alongside Brainstory. Praised by CBC and featured in Rolling Stone France, the band has been hailed by Exclaim’s Sydney Brasil as “another ray of funk-filled optimism.”
