Alan Cross is one of Canada’s most influential and recognizable voices in music journalism, known for his decades-long career as a broadcaster, writer, interviewer, and cultural historian. Based in Toronto, he rose to national and international prominence as the creator and host of the award-winning syndicated radio series The Ongoing History of New Music, a program that has educated generations of listeners on the evolution, impact, and hidden stories behind alternative and rock music. His work spans radio, podcasts, books, and digital media, including his long-running website A Journal of Musical Things, where he covers emerging artists, industry trends, and music-tech developments with trademark depth and curiosity. Beyond broadcasting, Cross is a sought-after speaker, media consultant, and storyteller, known for translating complex industry shifts into engaging narratives. He has interviewed countless major artists, documented pivotal moments in music history, and helped shape how Canadians discover and understand the music around them. With a career grounded in passion, research, and a lifelong commitment to music discovery, Alan Cross remains a defining voice in the Canadian music landscape.
