Event Description
We welcome you to join us to the second annual Walk for Truth and Reconciliation for Kingston. This is a walk in solidarity for all those affected by Canada's tragic history.
The community is invited to join a special walk on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30th, beginning at McBurney Park and ending at Confederation Park. This walk is an opportunity to come together in remembrance, reflection, and healing.
The event will open in McBurney Park @5pm with a smudge, an opening of the event with Elders and song as part of the ceremony. Participants will then walk together, accompanied by drumming, singing, and dancers, to honour the resilience of Indigenous peoples and the children taken by residential schools.
The walk will conclude in Confederation Park, where the community will gather for Indian tacos, songs, drumming, a Closing by Elders and the Traveling Song, offering a moment of unity, sharing, and celebration.
This event is open to all, and community members are encouraged to walk in solidarity to show their support for truth, reconciliation, and the path forward.
Please wear your orange shirts.
