Eyes of Laura Mars in 4D QUEEROVISION- d. Irvin Kershner/USA/1978/104min
ReelOut kicks off our 27th year with a disco-infused thriller complete with audience interactions and engagements that will stimulate all your senses! It will be as if characters from the film have just stepped off the screen or perhaps you yourself will be absorbed into the alluring world of models and mayhem. Dressing up in disco or 70s chic is welcomed!
Laura Mars (played by the sensational Faye Dunaway of MOMMIE DEAREST infamy) is a renowned New York City fashion photographer who features sensual yet violent sapphic images in her controversial work. Suddenly, Laura gains the ability to see visions from a serial killer's perspective -- and it happens to be her friends and associates that he is stalking. Aided by police investigator John Neville (Tommy Lee Jones), Laura tries to prevent the murderer from finding more victims, but she has no idea who the psychopath could be.
This might be one of the most unintentionally gay films of the 70s featuring not only a hot disco soundtrack, but a love theme sung by Barbara Streisand.
“...when Faye Dunaway is shooting lingerie-clad lesbian models in front of flaming cars in the middle of New York as her bitchy gay bestie throws shade at a misogynist and showers her in female empowerment bon mots, all I can say is that this is some GAY AS F*CK SHIT.” - Joe Lipsett, Horror Queers Podcast
