Event Description
Join us in a celebration of trans joy by coming together to watch the screening of The Switch, TV’s first transgender sitcom!
The Switch stars Nyla Rose as Sü, who is fleeing Trump’s America to start her life over again in Canada as a trans woman! Things don’t go according to plan leaving Sü unemployed and without housing. Fortunately she can crash with her ex Chris, who is also a trans woman. Unfortunately, Chris spends a large portion of her time in acts of eco-terrorism. Thrown into sketchy employment, “alternative” community, and a new identity, can Sü claw her way back to her old life? Or, to her horror, will she adapt and thrive?
The Switch was created in 2016 by Vancouver based independent film studio Trembling Void Studios. Almost ten years after its creation, the themes of resistance through found family, community and a few radical acts resonate just as strongly in 2025 when anti-trans rhetoric in media and politics is at an all time high.
Now in an act of giving to the transgender community, the creators of the show decided to make it the first TV show in the Creative Commons, meaning it is completely FREE to watch, download and distribute.
Please join us for a screening of the first two episodes of the show. This will be followed by a virtual interview and Q&A with the show’s creator, Amy Fox, a transgender actor, artist, film creator and activist.
