Kingston Live now has an active Discord community where musicians, artists and fans can digitally socialize, communicate and collaborate together. Creatives will be able to promote their work and interact with Kingston's music community in fun and personal ways.

Discord (web link) is a popular online voice, video, and text chat app that's used by tens of millions of people ages 13+ to talk and hang out with their communities and friends. Kingston Live's Discord "server" is actively curated and moderated by Kingston Live volunteers.

For musicians and bands, we hope it's a place where they can connect and collaborate with each other in more effective ways. We hope it becomes a place all types of music artists feel welcome to join, communicate with each other, and collectively work together to build stronger communities. It will also be a place for Kingston musicians and artists to find industry support and resources, and to ask the community for help and support when needed.

For local music supporters and fans, it will be a place to engage with the Kingston musical community in new ways, and discover opportunities for live music experiences.

Specific features and channels of the Kingston Live Discord server will include:

Job Board: a place for bands and musicians to post openings and 'wanted ads'. This can be anything from a band looking for a new drummer, to a solo artist looking for management services to a musician looking for a new photographer/videographer.

Buy & Sell: a channel for people to sell things. Used equipment, studio space, recording time, etc.

Promotions: a special channel for members of a certain level to post/promote their work.

Contests & Giveaways: channels where Kingston Live can host and run contests and giveaways. We can also allow bands/artists to run their own campaigns through the Discord server.

Genre-Specific Channels: chat and socialize with other artists and fans in specific genres.

Collaboration Opportunities: channels where artists can post their current projects or ideas and allow others to provide input or contribute.

Events: create and announce events, including live performances and festivals.

Live Chat: live text and voice chat rooms for industry events.
