Event Description

Electric Circuits, Kingston’s festival of cutting-edge electronic music, performance and digital art will be live and in-person at the Agnes Etherington Art Centre for two nights: Friday, December 9 and Saturday, December 10 from 8 pm to 12 am.

Advance tickets for both nights are available for purchase online from Eventbrite here.

We acknowledge the generous support of our sponsors, Kingston Arts Council, Department of Canadian Heritage, Ontario Arts Council, and CFRC 101.9fm.

We've decided to make masking mandatory.

Yes, we know this is a controversial move. Masks were always requested, but if masks are optional we would not be fulfilling our mandate to be accessible and inclusive to all.

We see the anger that this decision has caused on social media, and we understand. However, we have also seen the opposite: that many of you who were disinclined to come, now feel a lot more comfortable. We appreciate all sides of this debate, and we hope you can understand that we do not intend to discriminate against anyone.

Artist Lineup

This year, the first night's headliner is electronic heavyweight Sara Simms, animated by VJ VBR and Indigenous VJ Kay Chan. Included in the evening is a live circus arts peformance and a healing Tibetan bowl experience. An ambient room will be the secondary space, allowing you to regroup and mellow out: this room will be animated by Goldeneyes, who is also DJing, and includes a set from local Kingston artist FastFast.

Saturday, December 10

Night Two of Electric Circuits will include a performance from Berlin-Toronto digital art collective Nullsight, presented by digital artist Ali Phi. Headliner electronic artist is Wiyé.nox, from Vancouver, who hails from the Kwantlen First Nation in British Columbia. Other artists include Sara Scruton, Jim Roditis and local artist Mat Almeida, with experimental video artist Annie Socoria. A surprise performance will take place during the night, and Montreal sound artist Jeremy Young will perform as a duo, bringing an eclectic and phenomenal live soundscape in the festival's second room.

Important Info

We are all ages. Many have asked via social media, and yes! Younger children should probably wear ear canceling headphones or ear plugs, but besides the decible, our festival has never been an unsafe space for young people.

There is a bar. We will have a cash bar, with staff checking ID, and selling beer and wine.

This is a masked event. Masks are mandatory at this event, and we are also operating at 60% capacity overall. There will be hand sanitzer available in several spots throughout the festival, and we are going to make this as safe as we possibly can.

Accessibility: There is a ramp going up to the front door of the Agnes Etherington atrium, and there is also a ramp going to the Studio, the second room of the festival. There are accessible washrooms. There will be no smoke, foam, or other materials that disrupt sight however we cannot guarantee that all attendees will be scent free. The space will be dark, wtih highly stimulating and occasionally flashing lights, so please take caution if you have visual sensitivities. There is a parking lot nearby on campus with an accessible ramp leading down to the Agnes Etherington. Unfortunately, there will not be an all gender washroom available.
