Canadian singer-songwriter, Yan-Nick Michaud, blurs the lines of indie folk-rock with a soulful bluesy twist playing shows alongside such names as Wax Mannequin, Hush Hush Noise, Terrence Jack, Ali McCormick and JUNO award-winning artist Joey Landreth. From the Valley’s many local pubs, to Hockey Day in Canada, Kingston’s own Homegrown Live series, Artfest and The Breakout Project featuring Sam Roberts, he has recently announced the release of his much-anticipated debut album set for release summer of 2021 through award-winning singer/songwriter Brock Zeman’s Busted Flat Records.
With one bare foot rattling various homemade shakers and the other thumping upside the rickety, wooden Cajon upon which he sits, Yan-Nick’s stories spill out through song with a sense of love, honesty and humility. There’s nothing fancy about what he takes on stage with him for these live shows, but this musician isn’t one to leave anything up there when he leaves the stage.
