On October 9, renowned singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer, Tommy Stinson (The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Guns N' Roses and more), along with veteran hired-gun, Chip Roberts, are brining their new project, Cowboys in the Campfire, to The Mansion. The pair will perform songs from their debut album, Wronger, described as, "…a giddy trail of twang and grit, melody and (mostly lyrical) mayhem. "

The collaboration between Stinson and Roberts, which began as "a joke at first," according to Stinson, dates back seven years when the pair began casually playing and performing live together. "I took some songs he and I had written together, some of my solo stuff, some covers, some other stuff of mine he plays," explained Stinson in a news release. "We'd ad lib on stuff. We started playing shows in the South and stuff."

On Wronger, the pair explore experimental and expansive musical territory, ranging from rockabilly to pop. "I'm not one to be pigeonholed -- but I'm not putting a lot of thought into it that I DON'T want to be pigeonholed," said Stinson. “There's always been a country/folky element to what I've done, even early on, but this takes it into a whole other direction. In the grand scheme of things it all kind of goes together in kind of a blur."

At The Mansion on October 9, Cowboys in the Campfire will be joined by special guest Pasteur Papillon. The show is presented by MODO Live, and advance tickets are $25 each (web link). Posted: Aug 22, 2023 Originally Published: Aug 22, 2023
