Following their two previous singles, Into the Fray and AJPR, which have collectively garnered over 10,000 streams on Spotify, Kingston’s Pound Salt (web link) are back with a new release. Demons offers an acoustic-driven rhythm section and heavy guitar riffs to deliver a harder sound that will keep fans of their previous singles on the tip of their toes.

With Demons, Pound Salt tries to push the rock boundaries while staying true to their signature sound, maintaining a heavier undertone, lyrically and instrumentally.

“The song is about overcoming the negative voices, feelings and people that beat you down," the explained to Kingston Live. "Letting go, separating and taking care of your physical and mental health is so important and this song is the anthem of overcoming those demons.”

Such a technically balanced song requires the full band's input, and the ability to push and develop a song to its full potential. “[Demons] went through a few renditions, from heavy metal and acoustic to the sonically balanced final version,” said the band.

For band members, songwriting and playing original music for Pound Salt is both a vice and tool to release their own emotions. “Everyone struggles with their own demons on some level and it is vital for people to be open and able to express how they feel," remarked the band. "For anyone who struggles with demons, we want to initiate the conversation and hopefully empower people to reach out for help."

Overall, the message in Demons is clear: Never give up. Many people are battling their own demons unbeknownst to you. Be kind to others, and be kind to yourself. Posted: Mar 21, 2024
