Michelle Kasaboski is on a journey to establish herself as a top Jazz & Adult Contemporary singer and versatile vocalist in the Canadian music scene. Commended for her rich tone and vocal command, she continues to draw praise from audiences and musicians alike, including Juno Award winning artists Ranee Lee (Vocal Jazz Album of the Year, 2010) and Hugh Johnston (MusiCounts Teacher of the Year, 2012).
Having completed her Bachelor of Arts and a Business Diploma, Michelle moved to Montreal where she was inspired by both the cityʼs vibrant artistic culture and her work experience in the fashion industry to return to her studies in music. Michelle is currently based out of Kingston where she is completing her Bachelor of Music (Voice Performance) at the Queenʼs University Dan School of Drama and Music (2021).
Enjoyed by audiences for her on-stage charm and smooth vocals, Michelle’s most recent praise has come from beloved Canadian tenor John McDermott, whom she joined on tour in December 2019, and multi-platinum-selling crooner Matt Dusk, whom Michelle opened for in February 2021 as part of the Grand OnStage series.
After winning the YGK Emerging Musician Competition in 2019, Michelle took top honours again as the winner of national artist competition “The Shot: Remastered” in November 2020, beating out nearly 10,000 applicants from across the country. The award-winning singer continued her busy fall with a solo show at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts, and a special edition of her annual “A Michelle Kasaboski Christmas” concert – the live one-hour concert video being watched over 5,000 times during the 2020 holiday season.
In addition to her performance successes, Michelle released an EP of Jazz Standards, “The Very Thought of You” in December 2018 and an original Christmas single, “My Only Wish This Christmas Time” in November 2019 (both are available on all digital platforms to stream and download). Michelle is currently working on her first album of all original music in over 10 years. With Taylor Swift-like storytelling and an old-school big band sound, Michelle is passionate about creating ‘New Classics’ for her audiences and music-lovers alike to enjoy for years to come.
