Kasador Find the Sweet Spot Between Grit and Pop on “Kiki”
Kasador seem to be settling comfortably into the newer signature sound they’ve been carving out, and their latest single, “Kiki,” leans right into it.
Super poppy with a grungy edge, the track comes out of the gate with a heavy, bass-forward sound that gives it some grit without taking away from what Kasador do particularly well: making their music ridiculously easy to latch onto.
“Kiki” is built around repeated lyrics and an infectious hook that doesn’t take long to learn. Even with the heavier, fuzzier edges running through the track, there’s an undeniable fun to it. It’s the kind of song that translates easily to a Kasador live show, where you can find yourself dancing and singing along whether you knew the words when you walked in or not.
There’s also something distinctly ’90s in the song’s DNA. By complete coincidence, Sloan’s “Coax Me” played immediately after “Kiki” during one listen, and the transition felt surprisingly natural. Not because the two songs sound the same, but because they occupy a similar sweet spot where grungier alternative-rock textures meet an undeniable pop sensibility.
With “Kiki,” Kasador continue to find that balance between grit and accessibility. Heavy enough to have some bite, poppy enough to get stuck in your head, and made to be sung back at them from a crowd.
And the timing couldn’t be better. Kasador are taking that energy on the road this fall, joining Bleeker for a Canadian co-headlining tour kicking off October 2 in Toronto before heading west for dates across the Prairies and Alberta.
